Solar System Types
-
Grid tie system no battery support – this is the most cost effective solution and widely used.

-
Grid tie system with battery support – this system is supplied where there are restriction on exported energy

-
Off grid system including battery support – This is an ideal solution for remote location where there is no near electrical supply system

Generating Solar Electricity
-
The roof mounted solar panels produce electricity by reaction with the sun energy. The electricity produced is direct current or dc.

-
The direct current must be converted to alternating current or ac to be used in the home. This achieved by an inverter.

-
During the day the solar panels work with the inverter to provide electricity that is consumed in the house.

-
If the electricity consumed in the house is less than the power produced by the solar electric system. The excess energy is fed to the electrical supply network and the power meter goes backwards.

-
If the house consumes more electric energy than being produced by the solar system. Any additional power comes from the electrical power network and the energy meter goes forward. This occurs at night when the solar system does not produce electrical energy.

-
Ideally the solar system is sized such that the solar electricity produced balances the power consumed over a 24 hour period.
